FAQ

Making Reservations, Changing Reservations

Please note that the BC Parks Reservation System is administered directly by BC Parks and not the Park Operator. Reservations, changes, questions/issues with the reservation website and other inquiries should be directed to the BC Parks reservations team:
https://camping.bcparks.ca/contact

Or via phone at: 1-800-689-9025

BC Parks reservations: https://camping.bcparks.ca/

Further information on reservations and camping can be found at: https://bcparks.ca/reservations/

If you have been sent to us by the reservation team to make or change a reservation, we apologize for the confusion by the reservation call line - they must be the ones to make the change for you. Please call the reservation call line back and insist that they are the only ones who can help you.

When does the park or campground open for the season?

Open and close dates for each park and campgrounds can be found at the BC Parks website: https://bcparks.ca/find-a-park/

I cannot find the park that I want to camp at on the reservation site.

The park you are wanting to camp at may only provide first come first serve camping and does not have reservable campsites available. Please head directly to the park to set up in an empty campsite on the date you want to camp. Note that during busy periods, all campsites may be full. Come early to get a spot. We are unable to provide real-time updates on first come first serve availability, you must go directly to the park.

I can’t seem to find any available campsites on the long weekend.

It is very likely that the park that you wish to camp at has been fully reserved. Long weekends generally fill up right away when the 4-month reservation booking window opens in the spring. A few sites may open up due to cancellations - check the reservation website frequently.

If the park you are wanting to camp at is first come first serve, or has a mix of reservation and first come first serve sites, come early to get one of the first come first serve sites. At popular parks, these sites are often already fully occupied several days prior to the long weekend.

I have a 32 foot camping unit, will it fit in this site that says it can fit a 28 foot unit?

Possibly: it may fit, or it may not. It depends on the width and height of the vehicle, where the axle(s) are, the type of vehicle pulling it (for a 5th wheel or trailer) and many other factors. We are unable to provide an answer. If you are unsure, it may be best to book a site that can accommodate a larger unit. If your unit sticks out from the campsite into the road, we may ask that you move it. All vehicles and camping equipment must be contained within the gravel campsite pad and driveway.

Are dogs allowed at the beach, hiking trails, campgrounds, etc?

Dogs are permitted in some areas of some parks, while restricted to leash only in others or not allowed in some sections. Signs are posted to mark off each area. Details on each park can be found at the BC Parks website: https://bcparks.ca/find-a-park/

As a general rule, dogs must be on a leash less than 2m long at all times, and are not permitted in day-use picnic areas.

I cannot make a reservation for the days that I want at this park.

There may be several reasons:

  • Your chosen campground that is not available on the reservation system (you won’t see it listed on the drop down box)

  • The campsites are fully reserved and unavailable for the nights you wish (try different days). Summer weekends and long weekends can be fully reserved within minutes at some campgrounds.

  • You are trying to reserve outside of the 4-month reservation period. You can only reserve a campsite for a stay starting 4 months from today’s date.

  • You are booking for less than a full long weekend. Designated long weekends have a 3-night minimum stay. Your reservation must start on or before the first day of a long weekend and end on or after the last day. A reservation cannot start or end halfway through.

  • The site(s) that you are looking at are first come, first serve and unavailable to reserve on the reservation system (generally marked with an orange star on the reservation campsite map).

I cannot find the park I want under backcountry camping reservations.

You may need to choose backcountry registration instead of backcountry reservation in order to find additional parks.

How long can I camp at the park?

Maximum stay at any park is 14 days per calendar year.

I need to make a change to my reservation.

Please contact the BC Parks reservation team to make changes/modifications to your reservation, we are unable to access your reservation.

Are there any first come first serve campsites available at your park for this night / this weekend / these days?

We are unable to provide real-time updates for available campsites at our parks, or forecast what will be available for any future day. You will need to visit the park to check. Availability of first come first serve campsites is highly dependent on weather, location and other factors. If you aren’t sure, come early. If you still aren’t sure, come even earlier. For some busy campgrounds before weekends, try arriving on Wednesday or Thursday to increase your chances. It may be hard to find a first come first serve site at many campgrounds on a Friday in the summer.

I lost something at one of the parks.

Please provide us with the park you were at and the location within the park, the date/time you believe the item was lost, a full description of the item that was lost and your contact information. If our team has found your item, it will be set aside and you will be contacted. If you do not hear from us, your item has unfortunately not been found.

Can I have 2 RVs on the same single site?

If all your equipment can fit comfortably on the pad of the site without encroaching on the road or into the forest, we do allow 2 trailers to occupy the same site with a double occupancy fee. If you're able to get an additional site or a double site instead of a single it would be the same price with much more space. Fees can be paid at the campground.

Can I exceed 8 people on a single site?

BC Parks allows a maximum of 8 people on a single site with a double occupancy fee. If you're able to get an additional site or a double site instead of a single, it would be the same price with much more space. Fees can be paid at the campground.

Can I have a barbecue or fire in the day-use areas?

Barbecues, including gas and charcoal, are permitted in the picnic areas. Please ensure that coals are fully cooled and properly disposed of to prevent fires. Wood burning fires are only permitted in registered campsites inside the designated fire ring.

Is there firewood available?

Most campgrounds have firewood for sale. Our staff will regularly come through the campground; please wave one of our hard working team members to assist you with firewood as they come by.
